We are excited to share information about our in-person graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020! We thank you for your patience as APS developed a plan to recognize our graduates in the safest way possible. Our goal is to celebrate our students while following safety protocols provided by the Tri-County Health Department and other health officials. Our graduation ceremony will be held:

As we prepare for graduation, we would like to share some important information with you. Please note that individuals experiencing COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms should not attend the event.
All graduates, guests and staff members must wear a cloth face covering at all times. In order to ensure the health and safety of others, guests will be seated six feet apart from one another. Our graduates will also be seated six feet apart on the field. We ask that there be no congregating in crowds, hand shaking or hugging.
Hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the stadium. There will be no food served at the ceremony. Graduates and guests may bring their own water bottles into the stadium.
We ask that graduates arrive one hour before the ceremony. Students must be wearing their caps, gowns and cloth face coverings to be allowed into the stadium. School staff will be available to help direct students.
In order to protect the artificial turf on the field, we ask that graduates not wear high heeled shoes. Graduates will remain in their seats until their names are called and then stand and be recognized. Because of safety guidelines, graduates will not be walking across the stage to receive their diplomas or shake hands.

Guest Attendance and Tickets
Due to social distancing requirements, we must limit the number of guests who can attend the ceremony. Each student can invite ONE guests to attend in person. To obtain tickets, visit
Guests can download tickets using a mobile device, print tickets at home or pick tickets up at the stadium’s call booth. If you have problems obtaining tickets, please contact the ticket office at 919-653-0444 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Guests must have a ticket to enter the stadium and use the Guest Entrance only.
We ask that guests not bring large bouquets of balloons or items that might obstruct the view of others.
Parking will be available at the APS Stadium, Hinkley High School, East Middle School and on side streets surrounding the stadium. Please do not park at the Calvary Church parking lot, which is located across the street from the stadium.
Interpretation will be provided at the ceremony. Guests who need interpretation services will need to bring a cell phone with headphones in order to listen to the ceremony in their language. We will have posted signs at the stadium with detailed instructions on how to access interpretation services.
We recognize that family and friends would like to join in the celebration of our students so we are hiring a professional videography company to stream and record each ceremony. To view a live stream of the graduation ceremonies, visit aurorak12.org/graduations.
These graduation ceremony plans were developed based on the current guidance from the Tri-County Health Department. If guidance changes or if weather conditions impact our ceremonies, we will let you know as soon as possible.
